Surry Hills shooting footage released

A gang believed responsible for a Surry Hills shooting last year is wanted by police in connection with a similar incident at Yagoona three weeks later.
Police have released CCTV footage of an altercation about 3am on Sunday September 2 in Blackburn Street involving two groups of men.
An image of a man who was videoing the incident has also been released and police are keen to hear from people who might know his identity.
The cameraman was believed to be a bystander and detectives are keen to locate him and his footage.
Police are also appealing for help to identify up to four men involved in the fight, who are believed to have returned to the location 90 minutes later in a white hatchback.
The hatchback was seen idling on Blackburn Street as three friends got into their nearby car about 4.30am. The hatchback pulled alongside the trio’s car and a number of shots were fired before they sped from the scene.
Police from the Surry Hills Local Area Command attended the scene. One of the car’s occupants received a wound to the elbow, but the men escaped serious injury.
Three weeks later a 50-year-old man was sitting in his car on Rose Street, Yagoona on Friday September 21 when he was shot. He was hospitalised for two weeks before being released with the bullet still lodged in the base of his skull.
The two offenders were seen getting into a bright red sedan, either a new model Commodore or Mazda, which was driven by a third person.
