Cockatoo Island is the place to be on Saturday evenings, as a family friendly picnic and live music event is running every weekend from January 21 to April 1st. Sunset Sessions on Cockatoo Island will feature a myriad of Aussie music talent, with a variety of LGBT and First Nations performers hitting the stage.

Presented by the Harbour Trust, with the line-up supplied by the Music and Booze Co., event goers can enjoy a range of live music, as well as food and drink options including grazing platters and refreshments meant for a picnic-style evening. Food will be suppled by Cockatoo Island’s resident food and beverage operator, Marina Café & Bar.

Line-up on Cockatoo Island

In the line-up for Saturday January 28 is former Jezebels lead singer Hayley Mary, now showcasing solo music. Mary debuted her first ever solo single in 2020.

Also performing this weekend is Sydney-based indie singer Jordan Kenny, who hit the Aussie music scene in 2018 with self-released EP Rainbows in My Clothes. Kenny has since performed at music venues across Sydney, and continues to release music with funky psychedelic tones and a folky vibe.

Upcoming weeks will see performances from Carla Geneve, Lee Sullivan, Huck Hastings and Glen Hopper.

Cockatoo Island also offers overnight accomodation in heritage homes, harbour view apartments and a Fire Station Studio, for those who want to extend their stay on the island beyond a sunset picnic.

Tickets for Sunset Sessions on Cockatoo Island cost $35, and will run 5pm – 8pm every Saturday from Jan 21 until April 1.
