SOUTH OF NO NORTH
Image: Untitled (Memphis), William Eggleston, 1970

Experience the poetic delights of everyday life portrayed through whimsical childhood memories and commonplace images in South of No North running until May 5th at the Museum of Contemporary Art. South of No North is a collaborative work between Australian painter Noel McKenna, New Zealand photographer Lawrence Aberhart and American photographer William Eggleston – curated by Glenn Barkley.

The geographically dispersed and individually skilled artists magically bring to life moments in our daily routine, carrying their particular spirit within each piece. We see a mixture of subjects from around the world presented charmingly in intimate small-scale works across a range of mediums – painting, ceramics, video and photography. The differences between the works are woven together through the way each piece, while independent, also contains an everyday familiarity, bringing us back to the modest and ordinary.

For those of you who wish to be witness to the poetry and wonder that surrounds us, head along to South of No North and allow these magnificent visual storytellers to add magic to the regularity of life. (NL)
