SONG FOR MARION

SONG FOR MARION

Marion (Vanessa Redgrave) refuses to let her terminal cancer erase an infectious joy for life. As a much-loved member of an offbeat community choir she is preparing for a big contest. Her protective husband Arthur (Terence Stamp) is less than enthusiastic – but then again, he shows little enthusiasm for anything on the face of it, least of all for his son, James (Christopher Eccleston). With encouragement from the head of the choir (Gemma Arterton), Arthur attempts to embrace life in memory of his late wife and sing his song for Marion. There are few surprises in this touching tear-jerker, but the outstanding quality of the cast ensure Paul Andrew Williams’ film is one to enjoy. (CC)
