SHORT+SWEET

Short+Sweet is the behemoth of tiny theatre showcases. In 2011 they will up the ante with over 160 works, by 800 Australian artists, in two parallel venues, kicking off at Newtown Theatre and finishing at The Parade Theatres (NIDA). The concept is, appropriately, short and sweet: a ten minute play, performed on a set. Responsible for skits on illicit drug-taking at a wedding and odes to toothbrushes, as well as for launching the career of Rose Byrne, Short+Sweet is definitely not one to be underestimated. (AB)
