SET – THE PLAY

The twisted plot-lines of soaps involving glamorous and tumultuous love affairs, shameful secrets and other scandals are addictive viewing.

Co-writer and director of SET, Sam Atwell (Home and Away) and producer Nick Bolton know this from experience. They also know there’s as much drama and double-crossing backstage as there is onset.

“Writers and actors who work in TV are hard-working and funny people so it’s great to be able to break TV rules and conventions in this work,” says Atwell.

Combine some of the writers and cast from Home & Away into the mix and you’ve got a murder mystery that takes place behind the scenes of an Australian TV soap opera.

When arrogant TV heart-throb Finlay Jones (Trent Baines) is murdered, like all good whodunits, everyone has a motive from his co-star girlfriend through to the show’s own writer. Enter (stage-left) the quintessential duo of detectives who try to solve the crime.

“I’m hoping the audience gets a little insight into the fast-paced and often hilarious world of television with SET,” concludes Sam Atwell. (CN)
