SARAH BLASKO – I AWAKE
Blasko’s fifth album is almost scary – the songwriting that stands up with a full orchestra and Bulgarian choir as well as it does in a fluoro-lit radio studio with just a lone keyboard to accompany her; the voice, which meanders like a soulful echo through the abyss of feminine history; the scope of ideas and instrumentation… it’s both a truly intimidating and very accessible work.
