SAFE HOUSE
Everybody’s chasing legendary former CIA agent, Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington). In the CIA’s eyes he is a traitor, selling information to the highest bidder, but when his latest and biggest sale goes wrong he has no option other than to seek refuge in a U.S. Consulate in South Africa. From there he is transferred to a ‘safe house’, run by inexperienced agent, Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds). But after the house is attacked and he flees with his prisoner, Weston must decide if he should entrust his life to his superiors or his prisoner. Frenetic action scenes and a supporting cast including Vera Farmiga, Brendan Gleeson, and Sam Shepard don’t really elevate this film above standard espionage fair. (CC) ***
