PRISONERS

PRISONERS

Prisoners is a chilling thriller which asks how far should a parent go to find their missing child when police investigations seemingly become stagnant?

Keller Dover’s (Hugh Jackman) young daughter and her friend disappear on Thanksgiving and he later abducts, imprisons, tortures and interrogates the likely suspect. Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) investigates as the web of intrigue escalates.

The frightening subject matter delivers an extremely uncomfortable and disturbing cinematic experience. At two and a half hours duration the story builds slowly,  but interest is maintained through the effective use of suspense which leads to a satisfying, spine-tingling climax.

A superb cast and excellent screenplay makes Prisoners mandatory viewing, highlighting that anyone can become “prisoners” of their darker side when the desperate need for retribution overwhelmingly consumes. (MM)
