Platform Urban Art Prize
Are you a young artist waiting for your big break? Then this is the perfect opportunity to get your work out there. Platform is a new urban art project where emerging and established artists have the opportunity to get their work out into the public sphere at Hurstville Shopping Centre.
Owner of Hurstville Central Shopping Centre, Donovan Moodie, explained there are four different sites at Hurstville Central Shopping Centre for the competition, and he is looking forward to seeing a range of urban art styles.
“The competition strives for high-quality, thought provoking and entertaining urban artwork utilising the blank canvas of Hurstville Shopping Centre,” said Moodie. “Winning entries are installed here on the Hurstville Central Shopping Centre and winning artists will receive $3000. Besides the $3000 prize money, successful artists will be reimbursed for materials used in the installation of their artwork up to the value of $2000.”
This year’s theme is artwork is city life in all its glory or grime.
Moodie says this is the perfect opportunity for those who want their work to be in the public forum: “we want emerging and established urban artists in southern Sydney to have the opportunity to showcase their talents to the thousands of daily visitors to Hurstville Central Shopping Centre.” (AMal)
