Passenger in Erskineville vehicle incident charged with drug possession and other offenses

A man has been charged with several offenses including possession of illegal drugs, after running from a reportedly stolen Ford Falcon pulled over by police in Erskineville yesterday. The Ford was stopped by police just before 10am on Tuesday July 12, before then man fled the vehicle on foot and was arrested shortly after.

Police say the 38-year old man was taken to Mascot Police Station after arrest, where he was found to be in possession of methamphetamines. The man has was charged with 4 offenses, including possession of prohibited drugs, having goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen, and an unrelated offense.

He was refused bail and is set to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday July 13.

Second man in car shot by police, in stable condition

The driver of the vehicle sustained gunshot wounds after he allegedly drove the car at police after being stopped. The man was shot by at by police, before driving away.

He was soon found with the vehicle at a service station on the Hume Highway, where he was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Police say investigation over the incidents is still going ahead, after two separate crime scenes were established.
