Drivers around Sydney’s inner west can now take advantage of the Park’n Pay app which allows users to pay remotely for parking, and have real time information about parking availablity. The NSW government run app allows users to pay for parking without using parking metres, as ticket inspectors can search if payments have been made via number plate.

The Inner West is joining other Sydney areas in making the app available for use. Over 1800 car spots across the Inner West will be able to be paid for using the Park’n Pay app.

Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello said that the app takes away the “hassle” for both commuters and visitors to the inner west.

“Whether you’re catching up for coffee with friends in Rozelle or going out for dinner with family in Leichhardt, the app will save motorists time and provide them with more convenience” Dominello said.

Park’n pay is currently already available around the inner city in The Rocks and Burwood, as well as being rolled out across NSW National Parks and several other Sydney areas.

Dominello says the app has been downloaded over 135,000 times since it was launched in 2019.

Electric vehicle charging

Also available through the app is information about the availability of electric vehicle charging stations, which are planned to rise in number through the coming years as EVs become more popular.

The Inner West Council is taking part in a trial of power pole stations for EV charging, which allows car owners who exclusively have access to on street parking to charge their cars on the street.

“The Inner West has an incredibly diverse range of shops, restaurants, and music venues and this technology will make it easier for people to get out and explore everything the area has to offer” Dominello said.

The Park’n pay app can be downloaded from the Apple Store, or Google Play.
