OBLIVION
In the aftermath of an apocalyptic war with an alien race, Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) and his partner Victoria (Andrea Riseborough), protect vital water-harvesting equipment for Earth’s evacuated population from the ‘Scavs’ – mysterious remnants of the war. His memory of life on Earth has been wiped clean for security purposes, but they live on in the form of dreams, and when a life capsule falls from the sky to co-ordinates arranged by the Scavs, the pieces of his past and present are slowly assembled. Stunning special effects and stoic performances by all, including an under-utilised Morgan Freeman, make this a stylish sci-fi thriller. (CC)
