NYE 2024 – Best spots to see the Fireworks
by ALEX DRISCOLL
Many of the locations that were previously available only to holders of expensive tickets are
now free to the public, adding far more locations for New Year’s Eve revellers to enjoy.
As everyone knows, fireworks are far more exciting in real life than they are on the
television, and there are more free vantage points than there have ever been!
Here are just a few we recommend making the trip to:
Royal Botanic Gardens: Mrs Macquarie’s Point
Located at the very tip of the Royal Botanic Gardens and offering sweeping views of the
Harbour Bridge, Mrs Macquarie’s Point is one of the staples of New Year’s Fireworks
viewing. With food and drinks available on site, this spot is likely to get very busy, so make
sure to get a spot early!
Illoura Reserve
Located in Balmain East, this seaside park puts you in a direct line of site of the Bridge, as
well as offering respectable views of the Harbour in general. This viewing spot allows for
BYO drinks, with food being available to purchase on-site.
Duff Reserve
If it’s the broadest view of the Harbour Bridge you are looking for, then it might be worth
making the trip to this humble oceanside park in Point Piper, located next to Lady Martins
Beach. Although no food and drinks will be on offer, and BYO is prohibited, the sweeping
views of Sydney Harbour at this Reserve are well worth it.
Lavender Bay Parklands
Nestled in direct view of the Harbour Bridge, this network of parks has one of the best up-
close views of the Harbour Bridge in the city. Like other locations this close to the Bridge,
this one will be busy, so be sure to get there early.

website here.
