NAIDOC at Carriageworks Nights
Prominent contemporary multi-arts organisation, Carriageworks, has announced that proud Erub psychedelic pop artist, Sycco, will be the headliner for the Carriageworks Nights NAIDOC event. This exciting event, which is free to attend, will feature music, spoken word, and poetry, celebrating this year’s NAIDOC week theme, For Our Elders, by providing a space for Elders and young people to come together and share.
Despite being only 21, Sycco has already gained a dedicated fan base and amassed tens of millions of streams on Spotify. She’ll perform an intimate show with her full band in the Carriageworks Public Space. Joining her on stage will be breakout hip hop artist Dobby (Murrawarri) and violinist Eric Avery (Ngiyampaa/Yuin/Bandjalang/Gumbangirr), who both use the power of music to share their culture.
The night will kick off with spoken word and poetry performances by multidisciplinary artists Kirli Saunders (Gunai) and Jazz Money (Wiradjuri). Visitors will also have the opportunity to indulge in delicious food and beverages provided by the award-winning Aboriginal-owned cafe, Indigiearth.
Carriageworks Nights NAIDOC is one of a series of ten evenings presented over the next three months, each with a different theme. Audiences can gather after dark to experience a range of artist-led events, including performances, music, film, and food.
NB: Tickets are FREE but registration is essential.
