My Trip to Mars

My Trip to Mars
Image: Film still from Adam Norton's 'The Mars Project'.

Artist Adam Norton transforms the UTS Gallery into a replica of the surface of Mars for his exhibition My Trip to Mars.

Norton’s exhibition explores the effects of technology on the human condition. My Trip to Mars is all about experiencing what life would be like on Mars, without actually having to get onto a spacecraft.

There will be objects and souvenirs scattered around the set to light up viewers imagination, to transform them from simple onlookers to space explorers.

It will include recent sculpture, installation and video works including Space Yurt, a habitation unit for a solo space explorer and The Mars Project, a video work made with Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery.

Norton has made work focusing on space travel, virtual welfare and nuclear weapons. His previous exhibits include Conquest of Space: Science Fiction and Contemporary Art and Hope of Wrecks.

My Trip to Mars is presented as part of National Science Week and Sydney Science Festival. (AMal)
