Mr Fogg’s Last Lightshow: A World Of Sensory Wonder To Mark The End Of An Era
To celebrate the launch of his new book You Are In The Book!, Ellis D Fogg will be presenting his hauntingly beautiful and memorable live experience Mr Fogg’s Last Lightshow, which marks the end of an era. This one-off not-to-be-missed multi-sensory experience is a vibrant spectacle and mesmerising fusion of sound, light and performance.
Roger Foley-Fogg (aka Ellis D Fogg) is a renowned Australian artist, lighting designer and lumino kinetic artist who has had a 60-year career creating groundbreaking lighting shows. His work combines light, movement and sound, and his exhibits have been successfully displayed in New York, New Delhi and Singapore. He’s also a founding member of the Yellow House Artist Collective (1970-73).
Born in Cairns, Queensland, his interest in art commenced in the late 1950s when he experimented with light and shadow and the refracted light through leaves on trees.
In the 1960s he designed rock concerts and psychedelic light shows. The experimental light shows which incorporated his Light Sculpture throughout the 1970s advanced to his present immersive multi-media art experiences.
What to expect from Mr Fogg’s Last Lightshow
Acclaimed Australian folklorist and cultural historian Warren Fahey AM will open Mr Fogg’s Last Lightshow, and there will be a special appearance by Francesca Emerson, author of ‘The Chocolate Bunny’ who went from a poverty-stricken kid in Harlem to living a vibrant and exciting life in Hollywood.
This is an event not to be missed, and audiences can expect an engaging, multi-dimensional with the following performances:
Liquidelic – mind-bending liquid light projections in the psychedelic tradition
Awuwa – (Yao Mikami & Mico Sundari) – a healing yogic mantra
Blushmoor – lush, atmospheric sounds
Leonie Cohen – live piano, taking requests
Trevor Brown & Friends – Avant-garde improvisation with one of Australia’s boldest composers (MONA, DARK MOFO, Sydney Opera House).
Archeringa – inspired by Yogini Mico Sundari with First Nations Australian elder Graham Davis King and Eric on violin.
Archival Actuality Films – Rare 60s–70s counterculture shorts, including How the Revolution Began, with Richard Neville, Adrian Rawlins, and Martin Sharp.
“This has been an incredible journey. Mentoring these emerging artists and seeing where they’re taking the artform – it’s inspiring. We’re excited to share it with everyone,” enthused Fogg. “Everyone should feel the magic of a real lightshow, it’s a pure, transformative experience.”
Tickets are $50 but there is also a ‘pay what you can afford’ option, commencing from $10. The duration of the performance is 2.5 hours from 6.30pm – 9:00pm.
Mr Fogg’s Last Lightshow will show at Paddington Uniting Church on Saturday November 8. You can learn more here.
