Matador is a veritable paella of delights, a tapas of entertainment. The show that sold out its season at Sydney Opera House in 2019 has heeded calls for more and will play, bigger, more lavish than ever, as part of Sydney WorldPride’s Pride Amplified program.
This is a rich and sensual fusion of theatre, dance and acrobatics with a Spanish aesthetic. Fourteen remarkable performers weave commercial and contemporary dance, ballet and sizzling, traditional Latin dance in among burlesque, pole dancing, thrilling aerial and circus acts.
Matador moves at a fiery pace, yet has moments of sheer beauty, aching torment, seduction. It isn’t a narrative, but it tells a universal story – the story of love, loss, human frailty.
This is a new, enhanced version of the original show. Featuring a reimagined set design, new original music and new Latin acts, the show takes everything that was magical about Matador, adds more ingredients and creates a dish that is even spicier and more delicious than before.
