Mardi Gras’ Fairest Day of all

Mardi Gras’ Fairest Day of all

It’s as much a part of Mardi Gras as the parade and definitely a highlight in the LGBTQI+ calendar. Fair Day is a true microcosm of the Rainbow community in Sydney. This year is going to be its biggest and best ever as it coincides with the start of Sydney WorldPride.

With over 200 stalls, almost every queer organisation, group, activity, proclivity, retail outlet, service, and pet is represented. Walk around and discover subcultures. Sign up for with a sports team or leisure activity; get a pick with a dyke on a bike; get advices and information about health and well-being; join a business network.

There are lots of fun retail outlets with bespoke clothing, accessories, homewares, knick knacks – great queer specific stuff all in one place.

Heaps of food options plus bars and chill-out tents.

This is a family event with loads of kid’s activities including face-painting and games, and of course the fairground rides.

Don’t miss Doggywood, the premium show event at Fair Day. Canines giving face like nobody’s business.

On the mainstage in the middle of the park, you’ll enjoy a range of quality (mostly) entertainment all day and into the evening.

Special guests include Carla Wehbe, Mama de Leche, Penelope Pettigrew, and the Buoys.

Fair Day will also include a First Nations Circle, open to everyone, a reminder that we all stand on unceded Aboriginal land. This circle will highlight the importance of safe spaces, especially for LGBTQIA+ people who also identify as First Nations.

It looks like it’s going to be a hot one so make sure you’ve got plenty of sun protection and lots of water. Bring a refillable bottle – there will be free water stations around the park. Don’t forget to bring a bowl for you pet (dog) and ensure they get plenty of shade and rest.
