With Mother’s Day soon approaching, it is important to plan ahead and surprise mum with the perfect gift. Serving breakfast in bed and taking mum out for lunch is always a nice way to spend the day, but what about something a little more creative? Below is a list of fun activities and gift ideas for mothers and their children to take part in together next month.

The Other Art Fair – Barangaroo: www.theotherartfair.com/sydney/tickets/
The Other Art Fair in Barangaroo focuses on all forms of inclusive contemporary art. The event features modern works from 135 independent artists, immersive installations, performances, and DJs for anyone to enjoy. The fair is running on Mother’s Day, and makes for an ideal creative outing.

Splatter paint studio – Bondi Junction: www.kaboostudio.com.au/session-times
This event is suited to mums who are not afraid of mess. Cover up with protective gear and express full creative freedom by splattering different coloured paint onto a canvas. Mum and the family will each walk away with a unique canvas design to cherish.

Lego exhibition – Maritime Museum: www.sea.museum/whats-on/exhibitions/brickwrecks
This event is a chance for mothers and their younger children to engage in a quality day out together. Participate in an interactive event and tour various shipwreck lego models and designs.

Jewellery Making Workshop – Erskineville: classbento.com.au/jewellery-making-courses-sydney
If mum loves to buy and wear jewellery, take her out on Mother’s Day to create her own. Choose a design and construct a range of DIY earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. Engage in the art of jewellery making and take home beautifully handcrafted pieces.

Princesses of Pop – State Theatre: www.statetheatre.com.au/show-calendar/princesses-of-pop/
Showing on Mother’s Day is a ‘70s pop tribute performance, highlighting the journey of three Australian women pop stars. If your mum loves the sound of the ‘70s, musicals, or to dance and sing, book tickets to see this performance for an entertaining Mother’s Day outing.
