Wednesday 13: Horror-punk hit us! On the front lines of the devilishly divine genre of doom and ghoul, Wednesday 13 of Charlotte, North Carolina, has carved out a place in our vast and pot-holed world of rock music. His new release The Dixie Dead, circulating via 3Wise, is said to be his most passionate and gruesome work to date. Be prepared to loose a blood cell or two, because no Wednesday 13 spectacular would be complete without a bit of the red liquid.

Thu, Oct 31st, The Metro

Buffalo Tales & Sam Buckingham: For all of the folk heads, this collaboration is a one-off tour not to be missed. Emerging victorious on the ever-irritating televised debacle that was Australian Idol, Adelaide’s Wes Carr has established himself as one of the few ex-contestants with a guitar-full of musical mojo. Recording at this current moment as Buffalo Tales, he will join up with female folk songstress Sam Buckingham to collaborate on some tracks from each of their latest albums. Expect stellar harmonies and stripped-back renditions to astound and warm the heart.

Fri, Nov 1st, Venue 505

Spit Syndicate: Emerging from Sydney in 2005, it’s been a hell of a journey for this rap rebel duo. Their February release Sunday Gentlemen saw a wealth of acclamations, from a debut at number 15 on the ARIA chart to a sold-out tour on the east coast and in Perth. After regular airplay with their singles Folly and Amazing, the boys will be taking mentor Joyride as well as All Day on an extensive exploration of Australia’s major and rural points. With a slot on the stage of upcoming event BIGSOUND, this could be the last chance to see the boys in a more intimate setting.

Sat, Nov 2nd, Hi-Fi Sydney

Sydney Youth Orchestra: Mr. Max McBride will be the conductor for this evening as audiences board the 40th Anniversary special with the Sydney Youth Orchestra. This night will also boast extravagant solo performances by Ennes Mehmedbasic, Harley Milano, Benjamin Tjoa and Jonathan Bekes.

Women’s International Jazz Festival:
What better way to support female empowerment than this fantastic festival dedicated to incredibly talented women from all over the globe? This night marks the first performance of the festival, which will be running at selected venues over Sydney until November 17th. On this night, prepare to be enslaved by the magical hands of Eri Yamamoto. This Japanese pianist, who is based in New York, will make her Australian debut with nothing but her beloved instrument and her stellar compositions. (CD)
