El-P: One of the baddest hip-hop producers around is venturing down under to promote the critically acclaimed 2012 release Cancer For Cure. The record is an overflowing bag of huge boom bap beats and killer rhymes courtesy of El-P and assisted by the likes of Killer Mike, Danny Brown, Paul Banks of Interpol and more. The prolific Brooklyn producer was also the mastermind behind last year’s excellent Killer Mike album R.A.P. Music.

Justin Townes Earle: Townes Earle has to be one of the most authentic young country and blues artists around right now. His music emanates so much of the spirit and imagery of the Mississippi delta that you might even feel as though you’re actually there. He was in Australia last year touring his latest album Nothing’s Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now but he enjoyed that tour here so much that he’s returned to do a short run of shows.

Sun, Feb 10th, Annandale Hotel

Mike Champion: For all the neo-soul lovers out there, local boy Mike Champion will be launching his debut LP Young Boy Old Soul, an album that has been some ten years in the making. Inspired by the likes of D’Angelo, Maxwell, Marvin Gaye and Musiq Soulchild, Champion has been performing at clubs around Sydney for a number of years but the album, filled with silky production and Champion’s smooth vocal stylings is sure to get pulses racing.

Sun, Feb 10th, The Standard

The Presets: It’s hard to imagine that two classical music students from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music would bond over their nerdy obsession of 80s pop music and work together to become Australian electronic music royalty. Since 2003 Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes have been rocking dance floors with their brand of electro house and synth-pop. September 2012 saw them release their third album Pacifica which managed to hit the number three spot on the ARIA charts.

Mon, Feb 11th, Enmore Theatre
