LINDI ORTEGA – CIGARETTES & TRUCKSTOPS

Lindi Ortega has been breathing fresh air into the alternative country music scene for more than a decade. Building on the traditional country groundwork made in her 2011 Little Red Boots release, the Canadian-born, multi-instrumentalist has released her fourth album, Cigarettes & Truckstops. It’s a record that sounds extracted from another era: the infectious single Murder of Crows, would nestle perfectly in the showdown scene of a ‘50s Western film. Ortega and her earnest voice take a chance singing more melancholic tunes and it is this, combined with the variety of traditional country ballads and upbeat ditties, that result in a well-produced and balanced record.
