Lincoln le Fevre & The Insiders – Come Undone

It’s hard to put a finger on exactly where in the scale of genres the latest record from Lincoln le Fever and The Insiders falls, but it is certainly worth the listen to try for yourself.

The record opens with a slow country-esque sound using a single guitar and Lincoln’s voice as the two main focal points. As Come Undone progresses folk and pop-punk influences begin to creep in, which is when the record’s overall genre starts to get fuzzy.

Throughout the record Lincoln’s vocals and exquisite, detailed storytelling are the force majeure. Two songs in particular where the vocals blend perfectly with the instrumentation are Useless Shit and the penultimate track Alone At The Back.

Come Undone is a very well produced record that tells a compelling story about rebuilding after falling apart. The fact the record doesn’t fit into a distinct genre space may deter some listeners initially though.
