JURASSIC LOUNGE

Back for its fourth year, Jurassic Lounge transforms the Australian Museum into a funky space full of fun events. On Tuesdays throughout the season, visitors get access to the extensive permanent exhibitions as well as live music, bars, performances and interactive games.

“It’s bigger and better this year,” says Nick Jarvis, Marketing Manager of the Jurassic Lounge. “It’s going to be much more interactive.” Each Tuesday guests will get special sneak previews of The Sydney Fringe program as well as the Sydney Underground Festival, participate in crazy cosplay as part of the Animania Festival and Jarvis anticipates that “Halloween is going to be huge.”

One of the highlights includes a Rave Cave every night throughout Jurassic Lounge with DJ’s, a dance floor and great sound system. This year a special addition to the festival is Australia’s biggest game of truth or dare on opening night. The game was originally created in NYC to get people to interact with each other by leaving cards in envelopes around the city that would hold a truth or dare inside. Truth meant people would have to tweet a truth with a specific hashtag or alternatively they would have to perform a dare in public.  “We are going to run a similar event throughout the museum with prizes for the bravest,” says Jarvis.
