JOSH THOMAS’ EVERYTHING EVER

JOSH THOMAS’ EVERYTHING EVER

With a baby-face that hides a mature artillery of wit and day-to-day insight, comedian Josh Thomas was the youngest ever winner of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival RAW Comedy Competition (at 17 in 2005), and is now a regular on hit show Talkin’ Bout Your Generation.

Hi Josh. Your show, Everything Ever, is about … just that. Can you narrow it down to a few things for us?

Really it is about nothing, but apparently if you tell people a show is about nothing they won’t come. So I figured if I said it was about everything everyone would come.

One critic calls you an “incredibly mature” comic. How do you respond to the charge? I don’t really know what they mean by it? I never really know what critics ever mean by anything. They put way more thought into anything I say than I do. My face is pretty weird, it’s quite loose and wrinkly and sometimes it makes me look like an old man. Maybe that’s what they’re talking about?

What’s the best joke you’ve ever heard/told? I don’t know! The only one I can ever remember when people ask me this is about two sausages sitting in a pan, and one sausage says to the other sausage ‘Gosh it is getting hot in here.’ and the other sausage says ‘OMG A TALKING SAUSAGE!’ But I really doubt that is the best joke I have ever told/heard.

What’s something serious most people don’t know about you? Between  Twitter, my podcast and five-hour-length solo shows where I exclusively talk about my private life there really is nothing left. I have to learn to keep some things to myself. But then I guess most people don’t know anything about me because most people don’t look at those things.

Do you, like everyone else in Australia, have a major crush on Shaun Micallef (host of Talkin’ Bout Your Generation)? Eww. Just eww. Like he is a really nice guy and I think he is funny but also he is very old and I am very young. Also he is married with children and he turns up to the show dressed so much like a dad. Just… yuck. …. no offense Shaun, if you read this.

Any final words for Sydney before you see them at your show? Gosh you should come to my show because like wow it is going to be funny and stuff with funny stories and observations and stuff and yeah.
