Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense

Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense

After a sell-out year at London’s West End, and three successful UK tours, the incompetent yet charming English gentleman Bertie Wooster and his unflappable and somewhat manipulative valet Jeeves have packed their bags for a trip to Sydney.

Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense revolves around Wooster’s attempt to stage a one-man show with a cast of 10. On the opening night, Wooster discovers that the show is not ready to be staged. In desperation, he enlists his ever reliable and competent valet Jeeves, and another valet, to help him stage the production. However, events begin to spiral out of control, prompting Jeeves to take control in an attempt to save the show.

For those unfamiliar with this English comedic institution, co-writer David Goodale explains that “in the vein of Fawlty Towers, John Cleese, and the Monty Python crew” the show revolves around “characters [that] are larger than life, slightly over the top”.

Knowing of the popularity of English comedy in Australia, and particularly, Fawlty Towers and Monty Python, Goodale promises that Jeeves and Wooster “will tickle the Australian sense of humour”.

If you love English comedy, then be sure to organise your tickets quickly – with only a short season in Australia, shows are sure to sell out fast. (RP)
