JASON LYTLE – DEPT. OF DISAPPEARANCE
A decade after forming Grandaddy in California, Jason Lytle has released his second solo album Dept. of Disappearance. Having stamped his sound so coherently as frontman and songwriter of Grandaddy, Dept. of Disappearance is guilty of lurking in the same sound-world. A swirling scape of synthesisers pushes behind a widely strummed electric guitar, all topped with Lytle’s affectionately crooned lyrics about his sprawling homeland America. While the album may not offer any new twists or turns in Lytle’s tone colour, favourite muse or instrumentation, but he has refined his formula into a masterful and well-rehearsed balance.
