It’s Iconic and it’s Yummy!
Arriving in Sydney in August from a wildly successful West End season is the production ICONIC, from Australia’s own cabaret group Yummy.
The Eternity Playhouse (aka the Darlinghurst Theatre) will host ICONIC, which is described as a “queer-pop-cabaret” spectacular in which you can expect to see drag, dance, circus and burlesque.
The show could well claim its heritage in actor / director Lindsay Kemp’s challenging productions of the 1960s and 1970s.
Audiences are assured that “This wild new show celebrates and subverts cultural icons, legends, and superstars”.
Brain Logan commented in The Guardian on Jarred Dewey, whom he called “Iconic’s standout artiste”.
He continued: “With Dewey, moustachioed like Clark Gable and red of stiletto, the high camp and sexual display is subordinated to extraordinary skill”.
Yummy claims to have “changed the world of drag cabaret”. It started as a night club in Melbourne to “now being loved internationally”.
Get your glitter on and head to the Eternity Playhouse! You’re in for a wild and sexy ride! If you like salty, salacious and sensual, this is the show for you!
And btw, the show contains strobe lighting, sexual themes, and nudity (as if you couldn’t have guessed), and it is 60 fun-filled minutes long.
31 August – 4 September, The Eternity Playhouse, 39 Burton St, Darlinghurst; $49 – $109; Tickets and info:
