After 32 years, the iconic Golden Century restaurant will reopen at Crown Sydney in Barangaroo in early 2025.

The popular Cantonese diner will take over the space previously occupied by Silks, bringing its signature dishes and drinks to Barangaroo’s luxury hotel.

The restaurant, known for its classic dishes like Peking duck, sweet and sour pork, salt, and pepper squid, and live pippies with XO sauce, will reopen at Crown Sydney in January next year.

It will join a prestigious lineup of dining options at Barangaroo’s luxury hotel, including A’Mare, Woodcut, Nobu, and Oncore by Clare Smyth.

While Golden Century fans can currently enjoy dishes at The Century at The Star, XOPP, and Golden Century BBQ in Darling Square, the upcoming Golden Century at Crown Sydney will return to its roots.

Paying tribute to its original Sussex Street location, which operated from 1989 until 2021, the new Golden Century at Barangaroo will offer signature dishes like snow crab and seafood, this time accompanied by stunning harbour views.

Crown Sydney to Launch Icebergs Harbour Bar in 2025

Crown Sydney will debut Icebergs Dining Room & Bar with a summer residency at The Waiting Room, now rebranded as Icebergs Harbour Bar.

Opening in December on the ground floor, Icebergs Harbour Bar will combine handcrafted food, drinks, and sounds, served in a relaxed atmosphere, much like its iconic Bondi location.

The Darling Harbour venue aims to maintain this same ethos, offering a similar laid-back yet refined experience.

Icebergs Dining Room & Bar in Bondi was recently crowned Restaurant Bar of the Year at the 23rd Annual Bartender Magazine Bar Awards. This recognition confirms its status as a premier dining and drinking destination.

Crown CEO Excited to Bring Nostalgic Experience with Golden Century and Icebergs

Crown Sydney Chief Executive Officer, Stanford Le, said: “Crown Sydney is already a beacon of hospitality in this beloved city, so it feels natural to add to our repertoire two renowned offerings from Sydney itself.”

“We are thrilled to become the new home of the iconic Golden Century, offering our guests an experience that is at once nostalgic and exciting, and to partner with Icebergs for a summer residency of their bar experience, bringing their Bondi expertise to the harbourside.”

“Since 2016, Crown Sydney has invested heavily in activating the Barangaroo precinct. By adding two more hospitality institutions to our resort, we are proud to be enhancing the night-time economy offerings, well-timed with the opening of direct and fast metro services to this fabulous waterfront” Le added.

Golden Century’s new venue will seat approximately 150 guests, significantly smaller than its previous 600-seat Sussex Street location, and will offer lunch and dinner services. The restaurant will be located on the third floor of Crown.

Icebergs Harbour Bar is set to open at Crown Sydney in December 2024, followed by Golden Century in early 2025.

Both venues will be located at 1 Barangaroo Ave, Barangaroo.
