HUSKY

HUSKY

This year has been a whirlwind for Melbourne indie-folk band Husky. From recording their debut album Forever So in a ramshackle DIY backyard studio, to being signed to infamous Seattle grunge label Sub Pop and constant touring, they’ve tried to keep level heads.

“Mostly we’ve just kept on with the things that have always been important to us – writing, playing, growing as a band,” says singer/guitarist Husky Gawenda. “The attention has been nice and at times overwhelming.”

The lads aren’t getting ahead of themselves either – even after being signed to the label that broke iconic acts like Nirvana and Soundgarden.

“They’re a great label and it’s a humbling thought, but they can’t force people to like what we do. The people decide our fate.”

So after touring the US recently and still being on the job in Europe, what does Gawenda look forward to the most about getting home?

“Catching up with loved ones, getting a coffee at my favourite cafe in Melbourne, my bed and reconnecting with our Aussie audience. We can’t wait to get back to Sydney for the show. It’s been too long!”
