HUNTERS HILL ART EXHIBITION

HUNTERS HILL ART EXHIBITION

Hunters Hill, the little suburb that could. Could hold the state’s longest continuous art exhibition, that is. The Hunters Hill Art Exhibition is in its 58th year, and two years shy of its diamond jubilee, it’s still got plenty of gems on offer. Held across three historic venues – the Club, Town Hall and Congregational Church – this year’s winners include a striking portrait of a young lass holding a fish (Mertim Gokalp’s Fish does not think!), a study of form and light by sculptor Takashi Nishiura, and Linda Joyce’s vibrant Brittle Gums (pictured). There are many more artworks on sale besides, so point your wheels their way before Sunday to nab a bargain that is equal parts beauty. (AB)
