HO TZU NYEN & OREN AMBARCHI

Singaporean new media artist Ho Tzu Nyen is unafraid of tackling the big topics. For Nyen, filmmaking is painful – a kind of game, but a serious one. His subject matter confirms it: ZARATHUSTRA: A FILM FOR EVERYONE AND NO-ONE is described as a ‘doom-metal’ adaptation of Nietzsche, the music the original nihilist inspired (Strauss) and the director who turned the composition into cinematic history (Kubrick). EARTH is a videographic remix of 17th and 18th century Italian and French paintings focused on bodily fragmentation and deconstruction. Both works as well as NEWTON (in which we have the theory of gravity explained for us, perhaps?) will be screened alongside the live scoring of Melbourne-based experimental composer Oren Ambarchi.
