Hear your favourite movie themes live

From the earliest days of the film industry right through until now, great films have been accompanied by great film scores. In fact, it’s impossible to think about many films without hearing their themes. Consider Gone With The Wind, Jaws, The Magnificent Seven, Star Wars. All you need is a few bars of an iconic film score and you’re fighting stormtroopers, escaping a giant shark, saving Tara.

Music isn’t just there to fill aural space; it enhances emotion, builds tension, creates ambience.

“Music can transport us to adventure, suspense, tragedy, romance, and sheer magic. All it takes is to hear that music again and we are taken back to the stories that thrilled us!”

So says Paul Terracini, chief conductor of the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra and artistic director of Symphony at the Movies, a celebration of famous film scores played live.
