As part of Sydney’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations, the Irish Film Festival is holding a pop-up outdoor cinema featuring eight classic films across three days.

The area around Cadmans College will become an improvised movie theatre from 5pm, Thursday March 16 to Saturday March 18, showing a variety of Irish film favourites. The screenings are free and visitors can purchase drinks, snacks and Irish treats from the bar.

“We are delighted to partner with the Sydney St Patrick’s Day Festival to bring this program of legendary Irish cinema to Sydney audiences. We have combined new documentaries on Irish music legends Phil Lynott and Shane McGowan with some classic comedies such as The Guard and In Bruges. Throw in The Commitments (plus a singalong with live band) and family films such as Song of the Sea, The Quiet Man and Brooklyn, and you have a great lineup of Irish culture for St. Patrick’s Day – and it’s all free!” says Irish Film Festival Director, Dr Enda Murray.

On Friday night, the Sydney Opera House sails will glow green in honour of St Patrick’s Day, then on Sunday a traditional St Pat’s Day parade will kick off a day of family-friendly activities.
