FASTER

It’s only natural that many will instantaneously ignore Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s new actioner, Faster. With a fairly paper-thin revenge plot focusing on a betrayed man out to avenge the death of his brother (by simply murdering anybody involved), as he is simultaneously hunted by the police and an assassin; the film understandably comes off as trite and clichéd. But with a grittier action approach, and numerous tongue-in-cheek gags, not everything is as you might initially expect. Faster, is by no means a film for everyone; but if you can manage to leave your brain at the door and just go along for the ride, you might just end up walking out a little surprised. (AG) ***
