EXHIBITION: OLAFUR ELIASSON

EXHIBITION: OLAFUR ELIASSON

The MCA Sydney is undergoing serious renovations. Walls are being erected, new rooms are being created and tunnels are being built. Tunnels? Olafur Eliasson’s Take your time is being touted as the museum’s most ambitious exhibition yet with the construction of Eliasson’s sculptures, installations and large scale environments. The Danish-Icelandic artist is renowned for his ability to include the ‘viewer’ in his art and challenge the notion of the ‘fourth wall’ – so often acknowledged in theatre but not so often in visual art. This retrospective, organised by the San Francisco Museum of Art, includes 360° room for all colours (2002), Moss wall (1994) and One-way colour tunnel (2007) – colourful, luminous works that are sure to engage your senses with their subtle transience and leave you no other option but to take your time.

Dec 10– Apr 11, $10-15, Museum of Contemporary Art, 140 George Street The Rocks, mca.com.au
