EXHIBITION: NIKON-WALKLEY PRESS PHOTOS
They may not say a thousand words but that is because they say something that words cannot. In a new exhibition, the Australian Centre for Photography will showcase more than 100 images by Australia’s best photojournalists shortlisted for the 2009 Nikon-Walkley Press Photo Awards. From the moments that make headlines to the intimate insights into the fabric of our society, press images capture and document the tragedy and the triumph, the elation and the devastation of the people and the events that shaped the year in news. Taking in news and sports photography, as well as photo essays, more than 1000 images are submitted for the shortlist every year, and there is also an award for the Press Photographer of the Year.
