EXHIBITION: GOLD-CROP

EXHIBITION: GOLD-CROP

“It’s not about the survival of the farm; it’s about the survival of the family,” says a farmer from Boree Creek, putting a human face to a drought-ridden land. GOLD-CROP, brought to you by arts and social change collective Big hART, is a truly participatory arts project involving 35 artists, 53 community partners, three tonnes of dirt, 25 short films and 600 metres of fencing, all transplanted from the Murray-Darling basin to the cavernous halls of Carriageworks. It ties in with an interactive website (live now: www.au.org.au) that seeks to co-create and collate an ongoing series of personal portraits. Opening night will see Tim Rogers, the voice of the urban street lend it to the dusty steppes, joined by humourist with a heart Lex Marinos, Peter O’Doherty and arts maverick Reg Mombassa.

Nov 20-Dec 2 (opening night Sat Nov 21), Carriageworks, 245 Wilson St, Eveleigh, au.org.au
