ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH

Superstar astronaut Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) and his tech-head brother Gary (Rob Corddry) are the perfect team. Hot-headed hero Scorch gets himself into trouble with his daring rescues and Gary, at planet Baab mission control, quietly makes him look good. When Scorch receives a distress signal from the dangerous ‘Dark Planet’, things get out of hand and the brothers must learn to appreciate each other then work together to get home.

Escape From Planet Earth is a formulaic animation adventure for kids and adults alike. Some references will go over the little one’s heads (Area 51?) but the music and wacky supporting characters will entertain. The 3D aspect is almost non-existent by the middle of the film, so save cash and go 2D. (LL)
