Disco Dome

Disco Dome

The best of the 70s and 80s will come back to life for three weekends only courtesy of the revived exhibition Disco Dome.

Incorporating the best of Sydney’s music, art, dance, food and disco history, Disco Dome is centralised in the Parramatta district, particularly at the War and Peace Discotheque.

“Disco Dome will exhibit the cultural transition from the Anglo-monoculture to the multicultural haven Parramatta and Sydney experienced throughout the 70s and 80s,” curator John Kirkman says. “This is a walk-in tour, where the audience will experience the disco fever in Australia.”

This fun and engaging weekend will have film, digital, recorded/audio and performance artworks by Australia’s leading contemporary artists such as Liam Benson, Khaled Sabsabi, Justene Williams, David Capra, Heath Franco, Fadia Abboud, Jerome Pearce and Zehrish Naera.

And legendary man of the turntables DJ Danny K will play those funky tunes that will get everyone’s feet tapping and body shaking.

“We’re very excited for this to be a part of the Sydney Festival 2015,” Kirkman continues. “The array of arts that will be exhibited from our best artistes will encapsulate the essence of the funky groovy time.” (EV)
