DANCE: BACK FROM FRONT

DANCE: BACK FROM FRONT

PREVIEW BY AMELIA GROOM

From acclaimed independent choreographer and performer Dean Walsh comes a powerful physical theatre production about the effects of war on the lives of ordinary people.

Drawing on stories from veterans of World War II through to Iraq, this is a dynamic performance piece that deals not only with themes of war and history, but of memory, family, trauma, hope and violence.

From the immediate challenges of re-adjusting to post-war life, to the lingering anguish that can penetrate families for generations to come, it addresses a broad scope of effects that wartime experience can have on soldiers and their families.

Drawing together a brilliant team of artistic collaborators and dance and theatre performers, Walsh has created a visually stimulating and boldly physical theatre experience that seamlessly blends performance with video imagery. Back From Front will premiere at CarriageWorks Performance Space on May 1.
