
Bondi lifesavers in state titles success
Bondi lifesavers won five gold, three silver and six bronze medals in the recent NSW Surf Life Saving Championships at Blacksmiths Beach, Swansea-Belmont.
Highlight of the club’s success was winning the women’s open rescue and resuscitation (R & R) event. The team of Jann Ashley, Megan Hingston, Kylie Miller, Louise Santos, Jennifer McMillan, and coached by Andrew McEncroe produced a faultless display, drilling the rare perfect score of 0.00 points deduction from judges.
Bondi’s other state title medal winners are:
Gold: Shea Delorenzo, Danielle Hoban, Nila Oppediasano, Jemma Townsend, Jennifer McMillan, instructor Andrew McEncroe (women’s under-17 R & R team); Cyril Baldock (men’s masters 60-64 years surf race), Juliet Sharpe (women’s masters 30-34 years surf and rescue tube races).
Silver: Lea Hill (women’s masters over 55 years surf race); Chris Pike (sweep), Scott Hamilton, David Lippmann, Steve McKenzie, Dave Willis (men’s masters 160 years minimum age surfboat race); Louise Santos, Jann Ashley, Vanessa Cahill (women’s masters 110 years minimum age surf teams race).
