You can’t really get more Australian – or alliterative – than this. On January 26th our continent’s most famous strip of sand and surf, Bondi Beach, will play host to our most famous cinematic anti-hero, Mad Max.
This year, Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinemas crams in the best of the beach, with burgers, beers, and fresh lashings of salty air, along with the best of the big screen, with a varied program of classics, new hits, and special preview screenings. The format has proved a hit in St Kilda and Brisbane and you can understand why.
On the long weekend local chanteur Jordan Millar will make you comfortable before a fresh-faced Mel Gibson tears through a kitschy post-apocalyptic Australian outback … appropriately, all witnessed beneath the Southern Cross. To return to the alliteration: bloody brilliant. (AB)
