Barely Legal is a comedy show that showcases some super-funny teenagers fast on the rise – Nina Oyama, Aaron Chen, Jordan Sharp, Madeleine Steward and Neel Kolhatkar.
Nina Oyama, 19, met three of the members from Melbourne’s Class Clown Competition and later scouted Kolhatkar from a stand-up show.
When asked about her comedic style, Nina says she draws inspiration from Gen Y posterboy, Josh Thomas, realising that, like Thomas, “I could just talk about my life on stage.”
Aaron Chen, 17, says he adopts an on-stage persona that is an exaggeration of his self-confessed awkwardness.
On the night, audiences will experience a mixed bag of Julia Gillard impressions, fake arms, heavy breathing, ukuleles, and some masturbation stories to top it off. Both teenagers are excited about the show, and Nina says it’ll be a big night at the Laugh Garage.
“Neel will be doing impressions, Madeleine actually only has one arm, so she’ll pull off her fake arm at some point in the night and it’ll get crazy.”
