A metropolis parkland is set to take shape near Western Sydney’s new Airport with the Bradfield City Masterplan getting development approval.

The project will mark a big step forward in city development in the Western Sydney region, with the plans detailing a city that’s projected to provide thousands of jobs and new homes.

Prue Car, Deputy Premier, Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, and the Minister for Western Sydney, said the commercial, light industrial, open, and residential spaces will have dedicated areas across the 144-hectare city centre.

“Planning for the Bradfield City Centre will have a strong focus on culture, creativity and innovation across the precinct’s vast green parkland environment,” said Car.

NSW Government To Invest $1 Billion

The development will be funded by private investments, with the first land going through an open market process. A $1 billion investment from the NSW government has also been secured.

“As we work towards the opening of Western Sydney Airport, this area has enormous potential to provide new employment and business opportunities in manufacturing, freight, health and agriculture. This opportunity to provide highly-paid, skilled jobs in the Western Sydney area is a fantastic opportunity, and I look forward to seeing Bradfield deliver for our community,” said Car.

The development process will be sure to spur a large increase in work for people in the construction industry, with the future city boasting an estimated capacity for 10,000 houses.

“This Master Plan is backed in by world-class urban design and sustainability principles. It is the genesis for building an extraordinary new city underway now,” said Bradfield Development Authority Chair, Jennifer Westacott AO.

Proximity To 24/7 Airport

The metropolis’ walkable and circular design will feature rooftop gardens and bio-solar systems to maximise energy efficiency and manage temperatures.

What is most alluring about the Bradfield City Centre Development is its close proximity to the 24/7 Badgerys Creek Airport in Western Sydney.

It will also provide new Metro transport, connecting residents to the rest of Sydney and continuing to build on the already built Metro system, making travel throughout Sydney’s growing hub more accessible than ever.
