51-Year-Old Man Arrested After Alleged Sexual Touching Of Bondi Beach Jogger
A 51-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged sexual touching incident in which a stranger reportedly “grabbed” a jogger at Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
The man was arrested at about 3pm today, Friday 30 October, when officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command apprehended him at a property on Unwins Bridge Road, Tempe. He was later taken to Newtown Police Station where enquiries are ongoing.
It comes after NSW Police appealed for public assistance to locate the man who allegedly “grabbed” a 33-year-old British tourist while she was jogging at Bondi Beach. A photo of the man was released, alongside a description describing him as being of Caucasian appearance, 30-40 years of age, about 175cm tall.
At the time of the incident, he had been wearing a green jacket, blue shorts, fluro-green shoes, and was carrying a black duffle bag while riding a red bicycle.
Alleged Victim Describes Sexual Touching Incident
According to quotes obtained by News.com, Jenna, a 33-year-old English tourist, had been holidaying in Sydney for a month and a half when she was allegedly “grabbed”.
“It was a dark, shaded street, and because my headphones were in, I didn’t hear that a man was behind me,” Jenna said in a video posted to Instagram. “Suddenly I felt him grab me from behind. He grabbed my bum.”
“I was so shocked but I quickly remembered what my brother, who’s a cop, told me in that moment,” she said.“He said to always be as loud as possible and get as much evidence as possible.
“So, I thought, I can’t let him go without doing something and I started recording and grabbed his bag to stop him from riding off.”
It is believed the footage Jenna took during the incident assisted officers in their subsequent arrest, with Jenna reporting the incident just one hour later.
