AMOUR

AMOUR

Amour is simply a study in love; and in true Michael Haneke style, there is nothing trite or sentimental about it. We meet the elderly lovers just before one of them finds their faculties have become severely tested. Director Haneke (Hidden, Funny Games, Time of the Wolf) maintains kid-glove care with this fragile love, making this perhaps his most accessible film yet. Amour cuts deep through heartache and bonds of blood and while it doesn’t wallow, it can be felt as a piece of endurance art. The colours yellow and gold captivate throughout. Brilliant and courageous! (DZ) ****
