A PETER GABRIEL AND KATE BUSH EXTRAVAGANZA

Kate Bush fanatics and Peter Gabriel crooners beware… April 25 will see a night of musical delight and cult hits enter the Red Rattler Theatre for one hell of an ANZAC day show.

The idea emerged from a desire to bring a group of talented musicians together, each of them helping to solidify the Sydney music scene in their own right, and to raise money for the homeless by donating a portion of the ticket price to food rescue charity Oz Harvest.

The presenter of the show, Miss Little (Sarah McCallum), really wanted to get these specific singers together, Bush and Gabriel being two artists with fairly difficult songs to pull off.

“The idea was that it was not to be a cheesy tribute show, we wanted to do the songs justice,” she says.

Last year Miss Little had “this random Monday gig” at 505 in Surry Hills that she wasn’t keen on doing alone, so she recruited her talented friends and the first Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush Extravaganza was born – featuring Ngaiire, Elana Stone, Brian Campeau, Charmian Kingston, Jack Britten, Tim Curnick, Julian Curwin, Zoe Hauptmann, James Hauptmann and Miles Thomas.

“They’re friends through musical circles, but also people who are highly respected in the industry,” she says.

This time the show will wow audiences at the Red Rattler Theatre in Marrickville, a venue a bit closer to home for the artists involved. “That’s the idea, trying to get a bit community minded. Everyone lives in the Inner West, so we’re getting into that community spirit.”

“It’s been awesome getting to know these people musically, and we all love these two artists so it’s common ground.” (MH)
