Felony

Joel Edgerton writes and performs in this intense story about a good cop who does a bad thing that results in a young paperboy fighting for his life.

A lie snowballs quickly but the avalanche to come is a slower process as he battles his own demons, the senior detective all too ready to cover it up (Tom Wilkinson), his conflicted wife (Melissa George), and the idealist relentless in his pursuit to expose him (Jai Courtney).

Director Matthew Saville, whose previous credits are mostly for the smaller screen, takes us on an uncomfortable but compelling ride, whilst the performances are full of strength and subtlety. (CC)
